It’s long been our life saver for bad hair days or for a super speedy style, but once again the ponytail seems to be a favourite amongst the celebrities since it appeared on the spring/summer catwalks back in the autumn.
Perhaps it is because it is so versatile: from the easy elegance of Charlize Theron’s style to the poker straight bright blue pony of Katy Perry, but the ponytail is certainly one of this season’s hottest hairstyles.
With 85% of you opting for mid to Rapunzel length style this season, the ponytail is the perfect go to style to be on trend this spring. So here are some of Goody’s top tips to create your very own take on the ponytail.
- Make sure that you choose a parting that is flattering to your face shape. The centre parting can be difficult to carry off and can look particular severe if you don’t have a fringe, so opt for a side parting or sweep back without a parting for the most versatile look.
- For a voluminous look, build movement with your favourite texturizing spray and tease the hair with a Goody Lift Comb before pulling the hair into the pony.
- Choose a style on the side, low at the nape of the neck or high on top to create variation to your ponytail.
- There are so many options to choose from to secure your style other than the humble elastic. Secure with a Goody Simple Style Pony Pouf to get a fabulously perky pony; opt for a Colour Collection elastic to blend with your own hair; try a bright coloured Ouchless elastic to get your Katy Perry on; or secure at the nape of the neck with a Goody Classic Barrette for easy elegance. The choice really is yours.
- And finally for a pony on the go, and to avoid the age old habit of putting a hair elastic on the wrist, don’t forget to stack Goody DoubleWear elastics on your wrist instead. They easily disguise themselves as on trend bracelets, and will make sure you can join this season’s ponytail parade wherever and whenever you like.
So the question is, how will you wear yours? ….

Tired of forever changing your hair to keep up with the trends? What if we said there is a hairstyle that never dates? Celebs are homing in on this little hair gem and continuing to chop off long locks in exchange for edgy, chin grazing bobs. However, if this look is too brazen for you or you have more of a round shaped face we recommend the ‘demi bob’ or ‘long bob’. Great for keeping up to date but enough length to allow you to experiment for Spring!
Bobs are perfect for Spring and this sudden outburst of luscious weather has got us calling out for shorter, more manageable styles. Before considering the chop, consult your hair stylist and remember the thicker your hair, the more layers you will need.
Celebs who have opted for the look include Queen of bobs, Victoria Beckham, and surfer chic Cameron Diaz, who has chosen a short new crop – perfect for when she hits the beaches of Hawaii this Spring.
For many women, the bob hairstyle is an old time favourite. It will never age, it’s manageable, fun, and represents empowerment whilst still keeping femininity, what more could you ask for? The variations for styles are endless, so this Spring how about rocking this 2012 trend? Make a statement, change is always a good thing!

Plaits and braids have been on our radar since way back when. After gracing the covers of our favourite glossies for the whole of 2011 the AW12 catwalks proved that the plait is here to stay.
Celebs have taken the trend a step further, sporting plaits so thick they remind us of ropes! Usually swept to the side, and slightly textured, the rope braid looks effortless – but of course still glam! You can easily achieve this look with Goody by following these three simple steps:
- Spritz a texturizing/surf spray through the lengths of locks, scrunching slightly as you go
- Side part hair and braid into a loose unstructured plait
- Secure the end with a Goody Crystal Elastic for invisible hold that wont spoil the look of your braid
Our fave celebs from the likes of Elizabeth Olsen to Dianne Kruger have been seen rocking the rope braid. Looks to be cult classic in the making…

There is not a look Katy Perry, the true ‘California Girl’ cannot successfully pull off. From candy pink tresses to her present risqué blue locks, Perry continues to show the world how to make a statement.
Katy was spotted in numerous stunning ensembles whilst attending several fashion shows this week in Paris. The super songstress rocked out an edgy look at the Yves Saint Laurent show with a blue topknot and smokey eye make up. However, if Katy’s blue hair is too bold for you, never fear, Goody have the answer! Try adding hints of colour using Goody Double Dare Me Elastics (£3.09) the name says it all, and they are in stores now!
You may have noticed that Katy is not the only celeb sporting a new colourful look. Vanessa Hudgens has also been mixing it up by making drastic changes to her glossy brunette mane. Her locks were cut short last summer and now the star is road testing the age old saying to see if blondes really do have more fun! On another note, if you, like Vanessa, can constantly be found with a hair band around your wrist, have you seen Goody’s pony-tailers and jewelry in one double wear? Check out the below post for more details.

Tuesday saw the most pap worthy of celebs come together to celebrate the best of British music. As always the glamorous fashion & beauty was complimented by a flurry of exciting hairstyles. Here’s our pick of the best:
Keeping it classic
Adele was the winner of the night in more ways than one! Not only did she scoop two BRITs – she was also a winner in the beauty department. Steering clear of any gimmicks; Adele’s make-up & hair artist, Michael Ashton, kept her look classic but cool. “When it comes to creating Adele’s red carpet looks, I like to take references from classic styling, films and iconic images then reinterpret them with my own aesthetic”, says Ashton. “This gives an end look that is polished and current, but also softly elegant and timeless.”
Mixing It Up
Putting the fun into style, Little Mix went for a playful array of looks. From Perri’s cute plaited up-do to Jade’s experimental purple curls, these girls had heads turning for all the right reasons. We think these girls would love some of Goody’s colourful hair accessories, perfect for adding that extra touch of fun to your look.
Staying true to her colourful style preferences, Jessie J went for something a little more spectacular. Setting her hair into tight ringlets (you can get this look using the Goody Small Self Holding Rollers), she brushed the curls out to create a big fluffy mane of hair. Hair was then slicked down and secured at the top to create a modern take on retro.

The thought of Valentine’s Day has got our hearts all a flutter and the outfit planning is well under way. According to Cosmopolitan magazine, “men prefer styles that are low-maintenance and feel natural”. Trick him into thinking you spent more thought on his gift than your own barnet with these clever “undone” styles.
For a gorgeous feminine look that feels totally effortless, go for Rosie Huntington Whitely style face framing waves. Set your hair into curls the night before using Goody’s large Self Holding rollers, release in the morning and comb through gently using a wide tooth comb to relax the hair into soft waves.
A tousled side bun is the ultimate in “I just got out of the office” glamour. Charlize Theron perfected this look at the 2012 Golden Globes by adding a pretty headband. The Goody Spin Pin is the perfect way to secure a carefree side bun, leaving no sign as to where the hair is pinned.
For a more sultry look stick to a classic sleek and smooth style. To achieve straight, healthy looking hair, simply blow-dry using a Goody Straighten It Out Brush. Part hair into an on trend deep side parting and run straighteners through the lengths, for a style Jessica Alba would be proud to swish.

Does 2012 mark the return of the humble roller? Once considered to be a tool only suitable for grannies, it seems that the traditional way of curling is about to become cool once more.
As awareness grows around the havoc that straighteners, wands and heated curlers can cause to our locks, care conscious consumers are turning to a more sensible styling staple. The shape of the curl you get from a more traditional roller is so different than that from the modern day wands & irons – the result is a much softer full curl. There is also something quite charming about meticulously winding each section of hair round a roller, only to unravel them into a tumbling mane of soft curls.
The fashion world started the trend, with session stylists spending much of SS12 Fashion Week rolling hair into sixties inspired up-do’s. However, as with anything, the trend can be taken a step too far. The stars of hit TV show Desperate Scouswives wore their rollers out and about on a recent trip to London. As much as we love our Goody rollers, we’ll stick to wearing them in private thanks.

It seems celebrities are already practicing for Valentine’s Day! At last night’s SAG Awards a flurry of actresses completed their pretty polished looks with preened princess worthy tresses.
Braids, as seen on Kaley Cuoco & Dianna Agron, appeared to be the trend of the evening. Worn across the front of the head, to create a headband/halo effect, these plaits created dreamy, fairytale hair. To stop the look from become too structured, both girls allowed gentle, romantic curls to fall loose around the face.
Buns & ponytails were a style staple as usual, but this time they were worn low and loose. Flattering to most face shapes, these pretty yet relaxed up-do’s perfectly reflected the array of pink, shimmery make-up.
We can’t wait to try these romantic styles at home. Cupid can’t come quick enough!

The latest star to sport paint pop locks? Disney teen sensation, Selena Gomez! Stepping away from her usual (and perhaps a tad predictable) brown glossy mane, Selena added a splash of colour by tinting the ends of her hair both blue & purple! Making sure the paparazzi didn’t beat her to the news, Selena took to Twitter to show off her new crayola inspired locks saying:
“Change is good… My girls @ninezeroone take care of me always LOVE”
Selena joins a whole host of celebs in the colour craze, which started back in 2011. We can’t help wondering what Justin thinks of the more adventurous Selena?
