Cupid Calling

February 10th, 2012

The thought of Valentine’s Day has got our hearts all a flutter and the outfit planning is well under way. According to Cosmopolitan magazine, “men prefer styles that are low-maintenance and feel natural”.  Trick him into thinking you spent more thought on his gift than your own barnet with these clever “undone” styles.

For a gorgeous feminine look that feels totally effortless, go for Rosie Huntington Whitely style face framing waves. Set your hair into curls the night before using Goody’s large Self Holding rollers, release in the morning and comb through gently using a wide tooth comb to relax the hair into soft waves.

A tousled side bun is the ultimate in “I just got out of the office” glamour.  Charlize Theron perfected this look at the 2012 Golden Globes by adding a pretty headband. The Goody Spin Pin is the perfect way to secure a carefree side bun, leaving no sign as to where the hair is pinned.

For a more sultry look stick to a classic sleek and smooth style. To achieve straight, healthy looking hair, simply blow-dry using a Goody Straighten It Out Brush. Part hair into an on trend deep side parting and run straighteners through the lengths, for a style Jessica Alba would be proud to swish.

January Gym

January 6th, 2012

January = gym time. After a season of over indulgence and partying, the start of a new year is always the time to get fit. Gyming it is no idea of “fun” for most of us, and the dreaded work out is only made worse by frizzy hair falling in our faces. Fancy making your gym sesh a bit more fashion friendly? Goody is on hand to make sure you look stylish as you sweat it out on the treadmill.

The holy grail of hair bands for a pony that stays put are the Goody Slide Proof Elastics. Coveted by beauty editors and hair stylists alike, these clever little bands mean that you won’t have to waste those precious calorie burning seconds adjusting your top knot.  We challenge you to make one of these secure holding bands slide out (we know we’ll win!).

If it’s a fringe or shorter pieces of hair that fall in your face, look no further than the Goody Slide Proof Headwraps. Available in a range of colours, these slide proof headbands sit seamlessly at the front of the hair and do not budge!  Wear with a pony, an up-do or even leave hair loose – just make sure these handy bands are always in your gym kit.

At the end of a busy day, the last thing you want to do is create a gym worthy bun using a whole pack of bobby pins. But what if just one pin could hold up your whole head of hair….oh wait a minute…it can. Compact enough to tuck neatly into your kit but strong enough to hold your bun in, the Spin Pin has the hold of 20 bobby pins! Now a top knot can be created in just one spin.

So no more excuses – the gym awaits you.

After Party SOS

December 19th, 2011

Christmas is upon us and please don’t doubt that we are just as excited as you…eeek. It might be the “most wonderful time of the year” but all that primping and preening for festive frolicks is bound to take its toll on your hair.

January, for most, is a time of ultimate detox – preparing the body for the year ahead. But how many of us consider the health of our hair? Cold weather and excessive styling mean that hair is left feeling a little fragile. Make sure you are prepped to look after your locks in 2012 by stocking up on Goody’s hair friendly essentials.

  • Goody Ouchless Shower Comb: Use this snag free comb to ensure that conditioner is spread evenly through your hair. NEVER use a normal brush/comb on wet hair as this will only add to the dreaded wear & tear
  • Goody Start, Style, Finish Vent Brush: For quicker drying time, resulting in less damage, get your hands on one of these clever little brushes. The vents mean that air from your dryer reaches the hair, without the heat directly damaging your locks
  • Goody Smooth Blends Cushion Brush: For everyday care, this luxury brush treats hair with the care it deserves. By distributing the natural oils evenly it ensures that the ends of your hair are left feeling nothing other than loved
  • Goody Ouchless Elastics: Detoxing your hair doesn’t mean you can never style it! These metal free elastics allow you to pull hair into even the highest of ponytails without ripping or snagging the lengths

Given you a few extra ideas for your Christmas list? Here’s to a 2012 of groomed but glossy manes.

Dress it dark

November 8th, 2011

With a sense of Halloween and the smell of Bonfire Night still in the air, early November is the perfect time to embrace a bit of dark glamour. As the days draw shorter and the cold sets in it is hard to resist adding a touch of gothic sophistication to your look.

Autumn sees a wealth of opulent fabrics hit the high street and you’ll want to make sure your mane is made to match. So whether you smooth hair into a slick high pony or bouffant your bouncy blowdry just make sure there is an air of darkness to it.

Add as touch of dark decadent glamour to your style using the Goody Black Jewel Flower Bobby Pins. The perfect way to embellish any up-do, these pins have a certain vintage quality that well exceeds their £2.69 price tag!

Embrace it whilst you can …we will all be tucking our locks up in bobble hats before you know it!

Pick your perfect hairbrush and say goodbye to static!

November 2nd, 2011

We would all love a gorgeous blow-dried mane to give Olivia Palermo or Claire Danes a run for their money…so why after using the right styling products do we end up with such static locks?

When it comes to achieving the perfect salon blow-dry, it is so important to find the right brush to help you achieve a sleek, chic mane.  Goody is here to ensure you have the right tools that won’t leave your hair looking static or flyaway.

Static electricity is usually created when two or more objects repeatedly rub against each other. The brush ends up holding a static charge that is passed on to the hair and ultimately causes it to stand on end. Now, static is difficult to avoid, but you can remove the static from the brush if you use one made from certain materials. Always use an anti-static hairbrush, with a style made from wood or one with natural hair bristles such as boar.  Goody has just the one for you with the Mosaic Boar Ceramic Cushion Brush.

Bye-bye flyaways!

Fight That Frizz!

October 17th, 2011

With Autumn upon us, it’s only a matter of time until the dreaded frizz sets in. Cold, blustery conditions and cranked up central heating combine to deplete hair’s moisture levels, leaving locks dry and unruly. However, with a few simple styling changes, there really is no need to be a slave to serum this Winter.

Unless your hair is extremely fine, load up on a deep conditioner. Be sure to leave it on for at least five minutes in the shower, combing through the lengths of hair with a Goody Ouchless Shower Comb. Never use a comb/brush that is not designed to be used on wet hair. This will tug at the hair when it is at its most vulnerable, resulting in tearing and breaking of your tresses…eeek!  And when drying off, blot. Don’t twist or rub your hair with a towel, which can break the hair and lead to flyaways.

Next, for a silky smooth blowdry, get your hands on a Goody Start, Style, Finish Hot Round Brush. Not only will it give you vivacious volume, this clever little tool contains ions to help prevent frizz and tourmaline to fight static meaning that dreaded frizz frenzy will be long forgotten.

And finally to secure your silky smooth style, lightly spray a Goody Paddle Brush with a mist of hairspray and run through the lengths of your hair. This will ensure that the damp weather doesn’t get the better of your barnet. So, don’t wait for the cold to set in, get yourself into a frizz fighting routine before Winter’s wrath takes hold.

Warming Up For Winter

September 2nd, 2011

We’ve already given you a sneak preview into the hottest trends for Autumn/Winter 2011, but with the last of the summer sun setting we thought we’d do a round up our fave next season looks.  As the end of the road festivals wrap up and bikinis get made redundant, it seems that styles are shifting from the loose colourful carefree waves of Summer, to a more chic, polished look.

So how can you update your barnet to be Autumn/Winter worthy? A Few Goody tools will definitely do the trick:

Ponytails

Ponytails are stealing the limelight for Winter, so whether it’s swinging high or low just make sure your pony makes an appearance!

To keep your style in place all day use a Goody StayPut Elastic or if you prefer a more relaxed feel, follow mega session stylist Guido Paulo’s lead and secure your pony with an elegant gold Goody Barrette.

70s Blow Dry

The 70’s is back and with it comes bouncy blow-drys galore!

If you find blow-drying a little tricky, try our fool proof Start, Style Finish Ouchless Hot Round Brush. It’s retracting bristles mean that it’s almost impossible to end up in a tangle.

Bun Fun

The bun is sticking around throughout the colder months, so our obsession with the Goody Spin Pin is set to continue.

A top tip to making your bun current is to wear it neat and low for a demure daytime look or high on the crown for a more playful take on prim and proper.

We think that with a little help from Goody all these trends are easy to achieve at home – the perfect additions to a new Winter wardrobe.

The New Pony Club

August 8th, 2011

The topknot has ruled for too long and there’s a new up-do ready to steal its crown….welcome “the catwalk ponytail”.  As a flurry of models walked the fashion week shows sporting bouncy, immaculate ponytails, Autumn/Winter 11’s hottest hairstyle was born.  Dubbed as the must-have style for Autumn, this perfectly groomed pony had already secured its place in the pages of our favourite glossy mags. However, in a bid to be ahead of the fashion pack, celebs everywhere have caught on to Autumn’s hottest trend before the Summer sun has even set! Cue the rise of the catwalk ponytail.

The Autumn/Winter pony is a contradiction of it’s summery predecessors. After a season of casual curls and tousled tresses, the catwalk pony is here to bring back a touch of girly sophistication.  Already seen on celebs from Kim Kardashian to Emma Roberts, this feminine, flirty style is both on trend and flattering. The trick to mastering the look is the tools you use to create it. Follow these three simple steps to create the ultimate catwalk ponytail with Goody:

  1. Blow dry hair using the Start, Style, Finish Ouchless Hot Round Brush. This will ensure that the lengths of the hair swing with luxurious quality, adding to the expensive look of the style
  2. Slick hair back into a high ponytail at the crown of the head using the Boar Blends Smoothing Brush. Secure your pony with a Goody StayPut Elastic, these elastics will keep your new trend led style in place all day
  3. Finally wrap a thin piece of hair around the elastic adding a final touch of quality to the look

Bad to Goody Hair Day

July 14th, 2011

Bad hair days hit us all, but you don’t have to let them get the better of you.

Flat hair?

First use your fingertips to massage your scalp, this will give your hair an instant root boost. Then for hair with height in minutes, simply backcomb sections of hair from the crown using a Goody Tail Comb. Alternatively clip a clever Goody Simple Styles Volume Boost Comb into the front of hair to create face flattering voluminous quiff.

Dry hair?

Dry hair is a struggle but don’t give up on it just yet. Goody’s Boar Blends brushes distribute natural oils through the lengths of hair, leaving even the most dehydrated of hair types silky soft.

Split ends?

Be kind to your hair! Only comb/brush wet hair using a tool that really lives up to the task. Using a normal brush on vulnerable wet hair will not only tug and split the ends, it will also leave hair follicles in a frizz frenzy. Check out Goody’s selection of Ouchless Detangling Combs and start showing your hair some love.

Short on time?

Still want to be bang on trend but don’t have hours to spend in front of the mirror? This is the three day style solution for you:

Day 1: Wash hair and braid into this season’s side fishtail plait. Secure with a snag free Goody Ouchless Elastic

Day 2: Unravel your plait for perfect beachy waves, adding a touch of fun with a Goody Jewel Flower Contour Clip

Day 3: Everyone knows that textured hair is the best for creating up-do’s. Use the Spin Pin from Goody to twist your locks into the ultimate un-done bun
