With the Wimbledon season in full swing, it’s time to take the ponytail to new heights. Let’s get the basics in check first before it’s game, set and match over.
There are many ways to work the pony to suit your style, whether it’s super sleek, a simple twist or a textured, sexy side pony; Goody can make it work for you.
Mess It Up
The perfect way to give your evening look some don’t care cool. Build movement with a texturising spray, such as Bumble and Bumble Texturising Spray, then backcomb lightly using the Goody Lift Comb. Lift sections of hair into your hands, separating strands with your fingers. Once secured, tease sections of hair out of the band to create a tousled look.
Back to the Future
The 60’s and 70’s are where it’s at in terms of make up, but for hair the 80’s are this season’s inspiration. Add some edge with the Goody Simple Styles Pony Pouf. Section off the top section of hair and slide into place. Pull hair up to the crown of your hair and secure with a Goody StayPut Elastic.
Luxe Lengths
Add a touch of glamour to an evening ponytail with a bejeweled hair tie. Using the Goody Boar Blends Smoothing Comb, sweep hair into mid height ponytail in the centre of your head. Fasten with a Goody Luxe Starburst Charmed Ponytailer to unleash that diva in you.

Let’s face it, when it comes to Ladies Day at Royal Ascot, it’s all about the hats. Every year, fashionistas from high society show off some of the most flamboyant millinery designs around. For the 2011 races, hair was not hidden under the array of headpieces on show, but celebrated with tipped hats and sophisticated accessories.
Show-stopping headpieces and subtly elegant creations descended upon Royal Ascot for yet another fashionable year. On the first day of the races, Princesses Beatrice & Eugenie wore subtly stylish headpieces, a welcome surprise after their Royal Wedding disaster. Stealing the show yet again was Katherine Jenkins who complimented her golden side bun with a large feather adorned hat. It seems large hats were the look to be seen in with Danielle Linekar also adopting an oversized wide brimmed number. For the perfect Ascot a fsacinator and secure with Goody bobby pins for ultimate hold.

If you want to make a style statement, what better place to do it than at the Glamour Woman Of The Year Awards? The style shocker of the 2011 awards was Jessie J, who completely transformed herself into a sophisticated screen siren. Ditching her trademark blunt fringe, the BRIT award winning songstress swept her glossy brunette hair away from her surprisingly beautiful face. Thanks to a few carefully disguised hair extensions, Jessie’s usually sharp glossy bob was replaced with side-parted, artfully coiffed waves. The softer look was met with tweets of approval from her fans on Twitter, and it seems that the fashion world was equally as taken with Jessie’s 40’s inspired makeover. Glamour crowned Jessie as their ‘Woman of Tomorrow’, and if this chameleon-esque approach to styling continues, she’s a definite one to watch.

You know the sun has arrived when celebs hit the beach-kissed waves, and yet again this is set to be one of the hottest trends for Summer. The 2011 look to be seen in is a relaxed mid length wave that cascades from a centre parting. Putting her unique laidback spin on the trend is Sienna Miller who is already working her blonde locks into teased out textured waves. Rachel Bilson is also coveting the look, letting her dip died ends fall into a natural wave.
If you are blessed with summer ready wavy hair, simply blow dry the crown to prevent frizz and allow the lengths to dry in the sun. Otherwise follow these simple steps to get the look with Goody:
- Gently comb hair with a wide tooth comb to avoid separating the hair follicles and spritz with Bumble & Bumble surf spray
- Part wet hair into a center parting using Goody’s Tail Comb
- Twist hair into two low tight buns and secure each with a Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin so as not to leave a kink
- Leave hair to dry naturally
- Untwist the buns to reveal your laidback wave look
