Is there a new trend afoot? We at Goody Towers are wondering if this may be the case.

Whilst we knew that updos were all the rage, it looks like the hottest new hair trend is ears! First there were Cheryl’s Minnie Mouse Ears, then on X Factor this weekend Nicole Scherzinger was sporting her very own kitten ears!

We actally prefer Nicole’s look, but what about you? And what next? Keep watching this space……

Cheryl Reigns Supreme!

November 26th, 2010

It seems she really is the nation’s sweetheart and no matter what Cheryl Cole does we all still love her and her style. So it comes as no surprise that this week you named her as your celeb hair crush. In this week’s poll we asked you to tell us which celebrity’s hair you loved and you certainly told us, with an absolutely whopping 80% of saying it was all about Cheryl.

In recent weeks Cheryl’s hair has undergone a number a transformations and, from dying it red, to the Minnie Mouse up-do, Cheryl has never been one to shy away from playing with her style. If this week’s vote is anything to go by it seems there is no style she can’t pull off as no matter how controversial some of her hair choices are you still love her style! Surprisingly Cheryl’s fellow judge, Dannii Minogue, only received a fraction of the vote that Cheryl did. At Goody Towers we really thought that the vote would have been very close, but with Dannii only taking 20% of the vote we couldn’t have been more wrong!

Perhaps you have grown tired of Dannii’s bob, or maybe you aren’t a fan of her honey tones. Or do you just like how Cheryl experiments with her hair and rocks some unusual styles? Let us know what it is that you like about Cheryl’s hair!

Another Star Joins The Pixie Crop Crew

November 24th, 2010

It’s fair to say that X Factor has been a controversial show this year, but now it seems that the changing hair styles of the stars are causing more of a stir than the dramas going on backstage.  First it was Cheryl’s Minnie Mouse style which split the nation, and now contestant Katie Waissel’s new haircut has got everyone talking.

Katie has been a controversial act from the moment she graced the X Factor stage and has undergone a number of style changes throughout the series.  When we first saw her on screen she was rocking an 80s Madonna, bright blonde hair style, which quickly changed to a much softer shade of blonde.  However, this was nothing compared to the dramatic new look she unveiled on Saturday.  Not only did Katie decide to dye her hair brown, but she also chopped off her locks into a pixie crop.

Whilst Katie seemed happy with her new ‘do, opinion elsewhere seems to be divided.  But what do you think, was it Katie’s new ‘do that saved her from the sing-off for the first time in four weeks?

The Must-Have ‘Do of 2011

November 19th, 2010

We told you at the beginning of the week that Angelina Jolie had been making hair waves within the showbiz world, as several celebrities including Marion Cotillard have tried to recreate her messy up-do.  Now it seems, if this week’s poll is anything to go by, that Ange’s hair influence reaches beyond the world of celebrity, as 50% of you selected her messy up-do as your top hair style for 2011.

Not that we blame you of course, Ange always looks great and her hair always looks so natural and carefree.  Her ‘do is always stylish but never looks like she’s tried too hard… in fact it’s the look that most of us try to achieve on a Saturday night out!  And, seeing as we gave you a few tips on how to create this fab style earlier in the week, there’s no reason why you won’t be rocking this style!

Let us know how you get on recreating ”The Angelina”… we bet you’ll look just as glam as the lady herself!

Is A Minnie Mouse Style A No No?

November 17th, 2010

Cheryl Cole has become as renowned for her hair as she has for her singing, and in recent weeks she has unveiled a number of new looks.  However, her most recent hairstyle has really set tongues wagging.  We had only just started getting used her new radical red ‘do, before Cheryl threw a spanner in the works with a hair style reminiscent of Minnie Mouse.

Sunday night’s live X Factor show was full of surprises, what with Aiden Grimshaw’s unexpected exit from the show, but it has to be said that Cheryl’s hair style was top of the list.  Some loved it, other hated it, but whether you liked it or not, you can’t fault the star’s ability to create a media frenzy.  Cheryl’s funky ‘do saw thousands of viewers take to Twitter to vent their views on her unusual new hair style.  In fact, so many people were discussing Cheryl’s hair that the term ‘Minnie Mouse’ actually became a trending topic on Twitter!

Were you one of the people tweeting about Cheryl’s hair?  Let us know what you thought of her up-do – will you be sporting a similar style this weekend?  Or do you think this look is best left to Minnie?

Ange’s Awesome Up-do

November 15th, 2010

Love her or hate her, there is no denying that Angelina Jolie always looks stunning when she graces the red carpet.  And whilst most people’s eyes are usually firmly fixed on Ange’s dress, we are much more interested in her hair – she never fails to disappoint, and we particularly love the classy, but slightly messy up-do she often wears!

Clearly a trend setter, Angelina often has famous women such as Kelly Osbourne trying to recreate her look.  In fact French star Marion Cotillard was snapped on the red carpet at the BAFTA Britannia awards rocking a very similar look to Ange’s!

At Goody, we mightn’t be strutting our stuff on the red carpet anytime soon, but Ange’s up-do is perfect for an evening out with friends, a special date or festive party.  What’s more, it’s a classic style that will never grow old and if you follow our style guide below you can achieve it at home.

  • After washing your hair use Goody’s Ouchless Detangle Comb to evenly run through a blob of styling mouse throughout your hair
  • Then blow dry the hair using Goody’s Ouchless Hot Round Brush, to create lose curls.  Simply wrap small sections of hair around the brush, blast with the hair dryer and unravel
  • Next, gather your hair at the nape of your nape and twist into a bun shape
  • Then insert Goody’s Modern Up-do pin into the base of the bun
  • Lift the pin up and push back down into the hair to secure
  • To finish the look off pull a few trendils of hair from the chignon knot to create a slightly messy style.

We love the Modern Up-do, as this fab new hair tool from the Simple Styles range as not only will it allow you to create Ange’s up-do in a matter of seconds without having to use bobby pins but it is also really easy to use!

If you decide to give it a go, make sure you let us know how you get on!

A Ponytail’s Perfect For The Bonfire

November 12th, 2010

We here at Goody certainly enjoyed bonfire night last week, and we hope you did too! Whilst we don’t know how your evening went, we do which hair style most of you would have been sporting, thanks to the result of last week’s poll.

We asked you to tell us which hair style you would be rocking on bonfire night, and a whopping 50% of you told us that a ponytail was the ‘do for you. Well if you ask us, you made the right choice as the weather last weekend left a lot to be desired! However, 39% of you preferred to go glam with long, sleek straight locks, whilst only a small number of you said that you would be wearing curls.

We love that you lovely ladies opted for a style which looks glam but is also very carefree, after all we don’t want anyone thinking that we’ve tried too hard – we’d much rather that they thought we spent only few moments making ourselves look good! We hope you used your Goody StayPut hair elastics though – you would have needed them to ensure your perfectly coiffed ‘do survived the weather!

Go crazy for crimping

November 10th, 2010

They say that trends always come back around, and after seeing a picture of Amber Le Bon at the launch of fashion brand Forever 21 this week, we are starting to think there is some truth in this.  As the face of the clothing brand it’s important that Amber’s look has a cool, cutting edge which is in keeping with the clothes she models and we have to say her hair was definitely ahead of the game!

Sporting a crimped hair style, you could be forgiven for thinking Amber was attending a fashion launch back 20 years ago!   However, there is no doubt that one of the biggest hair crazes of the 1980’s has made something of a comeback with young fashionistas such as Amber rocking the crimped look.

Just a few months ago we told you about how the under cut had grown in popularity with stars such as Amelle from the Sugababes, and now with crimping creeping back in the style charts it seems that eighties inspired hair is set to become a hot new trend. At Goody we are all for experimenting with our hair and trying new styles but what do you think, will you be rushing to dig out your crimpers or will you be sticking with 21st century super straight locks?

Frizz Fighting Remedies

November 5th, 2010

Frizz frequently tops every girl’s list of hair horrors, so last week we asked you to tell us your top tip on combating unruly locks.  Surprisingly, fewer of you than expected choose hair straighteners as your weapon of choice, instead a staggering 45% of you told us the best thing to do is to invest in a quality shampoo and conditioner!

There is no doubt that you should take time to find a shampoo and conditioner which nourishes and protects your hair, whether it is frizzy or not.  However, we were shocked that only 22% of you thought that a hair brush could help you with your frizzy nightmares!  Well we are delighted to introduce you all to our fab range of Tourmaline Control brushes.  The brushes are infused with tourmaline crystals which not only help to fight frizz but also static, so you’ll have sleek, smooth hair that would make Dannii Mnogue jealous in no time!

Let us know what you think… would you consider swapping your straighteners for a Tourmaline control brush?  Or have you got your frizz fighting routine down to an art?
