Kate’s Fab Fringe!

October 27th, 2010

Let’s face it, Kate Moss is no stranger to style and if the reaction to her latest hairdo is anything to go by, you’ll soon be queuing at the hairdresser’s to copy her look quicker than you can say half price sale at Topshop!

Being one of the most influential fashion models of all time, it’s unsurprising that most of us would love to steal her style. However, Ms Moss has been very quiet in the style stakes of late, so it’s great to see that her post-wedding comeback is in the form a fab new hair style.

Kate's fab fringe

Choosing the launch of Bryan Ferry’s new album to unveil her fabulous new fringe, Kate’s new hairdo softens her face perfectly and as always, is no less than stunning.  We even hear that we aren’t the only who loves her new hair – appartently people at the album launch were more interested in Kate’s new hair style than Bryan Ferry’s  latest album!

We here at Goody love Kate’s soft, sultry fringe and are predicting that it will soon become this winter’s perfect choice for looking hot even when the weather’s cold! But tell us what you think – are you a fan of the fringe or do prefer one of Kate’s other styles?

Dannii Steals The Show

October 22nd, 2010

We previously thought that the lovely Cheryl Cole enjoyed the position of the ultimate X Factor hair icon, and was the one whose style had you begging hairdressers the UK over to recreate.  However, it seems we were wrong, and in fact it is none other than Ms Minogue’s style that crave!

Last week we asked you to tell us which of the female X Factor judges you think has been winning in the hair style stakes so far, and a whopping 64% of you told us that Dannii rocked your boat in the – which means only 36% of you thought that Cheryl reigned supreme.  At Goody the most exciting part of X Factor for us is the moment when the doors open to reveal the judges, and we get to see what both Dannii and Cheryl have done with their hair!

With Cheryl’s ‘do undergoing regular transformations since returning to the show the hair competition is certainly hoting up.  Not only has she had her hair extensions put back in, but she has also unveiled a new striking new red tone.  Perhaps this is the reason why so few of you of voted for Cheryl – do you prefer her short choppy style?  Or is Dannii’s ‘do just too divine to deny?

Is Willow A Future Hair Trend Setter?

October 20th, 2010

She may only be nine years old, but Willow Smith, daughter of Jada Pinkett and Will Smith, sure knows how to make a hair statement.  In fact, her style is so bold that it’s enough to give starlets three or four times her age hair envy!

Although Willow is still new to the “scene”, she is clearly already making waves not only in the music industry but also in the world of hair.  At Goody we always encourage people to play with their hair and if Willow’s brand new music video is anything to go by it seems she has taken us at our word.  The video for ‘Whip My Hair’, a song title we absolutely love by the way, sees Willow dip her long dreadlocks into paint and shake out her hair to create wallpaper with a difference!

And as if that wasn’t enough, Willow was spotted yesterday sporting a brand new hair style.  Whilst out for a walk in New York, she was pictured rocking a very on trend under cut.  What’s more it seems the nine year old has followed in the footsteps of Katy Perry by including a few strands of red hair to brighten the look up!

We have high hair hopes for this young star, she already changes her hair style on a regular basis and is more on trend than most people in their twenties or thirties, so we have no doubt she will become a  future hair trend setter .  What do you think,is Willow set to take over from Jennifer Anniston in the hair trend setting stakes?

Heidi Braves a Change to Brunette

October 13th, 2010

Heidi Range, of Sugababe fame, is the latest celebrity to unveil a brand new hair style!  In recent weeks Dannii Minogue, Keira Knightly and Kerry Katona have all been snapped sporting new fab ‘dos.  What’s more Kerry Katona has been pictured this week with yet another new style- this time she’s opted for a fringe. But whilst Kerry and Keira have gone for shorter, sleeker cuts Heidi has followed in the footsteps of the lovely Ms Minogue and opted for a change in colour!

Heidi, who throughout her singing career has always been a dedicated blonde, has decided that a change was in order and is now sporting luscious light brown hair.  Perhaps she was in need of a transformation after all these years as a blonde or maybe with winter approaching she wanted a shade that reflected the new season.  Either way we think that Heidi looks fab!

It has to be said though that Heidi has been quite sensible and gone for quite a light shade of brown with a hint of blonde still visible.  We think this a great idea as it can be a bit of a shock to the system to go from bright blonde to dark brown in one fail swoop – it’s far less traumatic to do it gradual stages!

We love Heidi’s fresh new look and it’s great to see her rocking a new style, but tell us what you think!  Do you prefer Heidi as a brilliant blonde or do you prefer her as a beautiful brunette?

Eva’s Must-Have Locks

October 8th, 2010

You named Cameron Diaz as your favourite blonde and now you have told us that Eva Longoria is the brunette that you admire the most.  Last week we asked you to cast your vote in our poll and tell us who your fave celebrity brunette is and boy did you tell us!  Eva was named as the out and out winner receiving an amazing 50% of the vote!

We absolutely adore Eva’s hair but we have to say winning the poll with such a high number of votes is quite an achievement given the competition she faced.  We admit that we made the choice difficult this week asking you to choose between Eva, Dannii Minogue, Demi Moore and Katie Holmes – all heavyweights within the world of brunettes.  So well done Ms Longoria for fending off such fierce competition!

We’ve said it many times before and we’ll say it again – we just love Dannii Minogue’s hair!  Her bobbed style is so chic and sophisticated so you can imagine how surprised we were to see that the X Factor judge only received 17% of the vote.  Perhaps you aren’t a fan of her new honey toned locks!?

Let us know what is that you love about Eva’s hair – is the tone or simply the cut?

The Bob Is Back!!

October 6th, 2010

It seems there is a new trend sweeping the celeb world – last week we told you that Kerry Katona had taken the plunge and had her long locks cut off, and now Keira Knightley is the latest celebrity to unveil a much shorter look.

Keira has in the past dabbled with an array of different hair colours, lengths and styles so this is not the first time that we have seen her with short hair.  In fact she has rocked a pixie crop and long flowing locks to name just a few styles!  Now it seems she has decided to revert back to a bob and whilst Keira has sported this style before it’s fair to say her current look is very different from that of the past.  If truth be told Keira’s new hair style is much more grown up and extremely sophisticated.

Ms Knightley chose to unveil her fab new hair style yesterday at the Chanel fashion show in Paris and if you ask us she couldn’t have chosen a better platform.  She looked every inch the Parisian beauty – it’s little wonder she’s one of Karl Lagerfeld’s muses!

We here at Goody love Keira’s new look – we think that her delicate bob flatters and accentuates her face beautifully.  As ever though let us know what you think – is Keira’s new hair style a cut above or do you think long locks are the way forward?

Celebs Show Us The Way For Autumn/Winter Hairstyles!

October 4th, 2010

If you’re anything like us here at Goody, then you’ll be dying to know what Autumn/Winter has got in store for us in terms of hair trends! We’ve already had a sneak peak of what’s hot and what’s not for the coming year, and as your Fairy Goody-mother, we couldn’t resist giving you a quick rundown of what’s to come so that you can get practising!

Trend One

The bun has always been a fave for off-duty Hollywood stars wanting to look fab, and celebs such as Cameron Diaz and Kirsten Dunst have got the ‘subtly glam’ style down to a tee.  As one of the top upcoming trends, here’s how you can get the look:

  1. Pull your hair back into a pony tail
  2. Twist your hair and spin it into a bun shape
  3. Starting at the base of the bun screw a Spin Pin into the bun and do the same at the top to secure the style
  4. Then for a slightly more casual look, loosen the front of your hair by running your fingers through it
  5. For extra ‘Wow’ factor add a Goody Headband to complete your style.

Trend Two

For those of you with shorter hair, the Pompadour provides the equally ‘perfectly imperfect’ style.  Why not follow in the footsteps of Rihanna and Pink and try this edgy, rock chick look for yourself?  This style has also been all over the catwalks this season and if it’s good enough for Miu Miu…

  1. First, dampen your hair slightly
  2. Then rub a small amount of pomade into your palms and slick back the sides of your hair using your fingertips
  3. With the rest of the pomade, starting at the back and moving to the front, work it into the hair at the top of your head
  4. Using a Goody Small Pocket Comb (£0.69), brush the hair on the side of your head backwards so it’s slicked down, tight to the scalp
  5. Next, comb your hair diagonally to one side while lifting it up with the comb to create the height of your Pompadour style. At the end, ‘flick’ your wrist to let a few hairs curl down over your forehead.

Trend Three

Volume is an absolute must for the next season! Just look to the likes of Cheryl Cole for clarification on this one.  We often think Cheryl’s motto is the bigger the better, and was we all know when Cheryl does something the rest of the world follows suit.  So to create a fun, volume packed look perfect for a night on the tiles simply:

  1. Use a Goody Ouchless Detangle comb (£3.49) on damp hair to free it of knots.
  2. Roughly dry the hair using a hairdryer and when it is 80% dry use a Goody Ionic Hot Round Brush (£11.99) to give the hair volume.
  3. Take 2 inch sections of the hair and wrap it around the barrel of the brush.
  4. Direct the flow of the hairdryer down the hair shaft and pay particular attention to the roots to give hair an extra lift.

Trend Four

Romantic curls have been one of the hottest styles during the past year, and you’ll be pleased to hear that all of your practice won’t be going to waste as this trend is set to continue.  For those of you have not yet mastered the look don’t worry, practice makes perfect and Goody has a fab Start, Style and Finish range to help make it even easier!  To achieve the look simply:

  1. Wash  and gently towel dry your hair
  2. Then use your hairdryer and the Goody Ouchless Quick Dry Brush to get your hair 80% dry
  3. Next, take 2-3 inch sections of your hair and  gently wrap them around the Goody So Smooth Ceramic Round Brush (£7.99) one at a time, winding them in towards the roots and making sure to direct the flow of the hairdryer down the hair follicle to avoid frizz
  4. When the brush has reached the root of your hair, begin to slowly move the brush away from your head. You’ll see large barrel curls beginning to form
  5. Once you’ve removed the excess moisture, carry on blow drying your hair with the same technique but use the cold setting on your hairdryer to set the style

Trend Five

When it comes to Friday’s we are always looking for a style which is professional enough to wear to work, yet sophisticated enough to wear to out afterwards.  Angelina’s recent red carpet chignon knot is the perfect choice, and if Angelina’s wearing it you can sure it will be big!  To create the look simply:

  1. Gather the hair at the base of your neck and twist into a bun shape.
  2. Insert Goody’s Modern Up-do into the bottom of the bun.
  3. Lift the pin upwards and then press downwards to create the chic look.

Now you’ve got the lowdown on the looks we’ll all be sporting over the coming months it’s time to get playing and practising.  And if you’ve got any thoughts on your ‘do for the New Year, make sure you share them with the rest of us Goody girls!
