Kerry Goes For The Chop!

September 29th, 2010

From new clothes and shoes, to a stylish new home, Kerry Katona has undergone somewhat of an image overhaul in recent months. Now it seems the latest part of her look to receive a makeover is her hair, as she has been snapped sporting a brand new do!

Kerry, who only recently returned to being a blonde, has been pictured with a trendy choppy short style.  Ever since Kerry hit the big time, as a member of girl band Atomic Kitten, she’s dabbled with a number of different hair colours, varying from bright blonde to rich brown, but has always worn her hair long,  so this really is a new look for her!

Her new grown-up hair style is a far cry from the long locks we are so used to seeing Kerry with, but we think the chin length bob and long, sweeping fringe offers a hint of sophistication. But let us know what you think of Kerry’s new style – do you think she suits this chic crop or do you prefer her with lengthier locks?

The Hot Shades For 2011

September 24th, 2010

The results of this week’s poll are in, and they are very close!  We asked you to tell us what you thought the hot hair colour of 2011 was going to be and it seems you were quite divided!  36% of you said that brunette was going to be must-have colour of the new-year…that wouldn’t have anything to do with Dannii’s new ‘do would it?!

However, following closely in joint second place, with 27% of the vote each, were blonde and red.  We here at Goody recently told you that red was the hot new colour of the moment with stars like Nicole Kidman and Florence Welsh flying the flag for redheads everywhere and it seems that if your poll predictions are anything to go by then it looks like this trend will continue well into 2011!

Surprisingly, black only received 10% of the overall vote, so it would seem you’re moving away from Twilight and towards lighter tones next year!  Whatever your hair colour there are plenty of hair tools and accessories that you can use to make your hair look fresh and fun for the new-year, just make sure you maintain your cool with our fab colour+protect brush.

Milan Fashion Week Style Steal

September 24th, 2010

It seems that for Spring/Summer 2011 all you need is Simple Styles. Both the Spin Pin and Modern Updo Pin are perfect for recreating some of the hottest styles for next season.

Last week we told you about Prada’s models showcasing the Audrey Hepburn chignon, which you can copycat using the Goody Simple Styles Modern Updo Pin, and this week – we’ve been taking a look at what our favourite designers chose as the crowning glory for the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week.

Get your Spin Pin at the ready ladies! Both Gucci and Prada showcased a very sleek side part bun – with Gucci showing a knot low at the back, and Prada showing the knot worn at the side. Either way we love this ultra sexy, sleek look – especially finished off with those knock out red glossy lips.

Goody Simple Styles is all you need for bang on trend Spring/Summer 2011 hair – make sure you snap yours up quickly!

Dannii Really Is A Golden Girl

September 22nd, 2010

Although it’s no easy feat when you’re sat next to the lovely Cheryl Cole, during the last series of X Factor Dannii Minogue managed to win us all over when she unveiled her sleek bob haircut and rebranded herself as a hair and style icon.

Last year, Dannii decided to cut off her long locks and opt for a cute, chin length style which framed her face beautifully instead.  Not only did her hair look great but she also proved to everybody that having short hair doesn’t mean you have to always wear the same old hairstyles.  In fact, the judge sported a different ‘do practically every week, quickly making her one of our hair heroes!

It seems that Dannii likes to keep us on our toes in the hair stakes, as recent pictures have revealed her sporting yet another new hair style! This time it appears that Ms. Minogue has gone lighter, opting for a honey shade especially for her big TV comeback.

We have to say the new mum looks absolutely stunning! We love that she’s carefully selected her shade which compliments her skin tone and complexion, and hasn’t gone for anything too harsh.

Let us know what you think though – should Dannii have stuck with her darker locks or do you like her honey brunette style?

Work that style!

September 22nd, 2010

You know what it’s like: you’ve overslept, haven’t had your morning caffeine fix yet, and are in a rush to an important meeting with your bed hair sticking out all over the place! It’s worse in winter when it’s cold and dark outside – you can barley drag yourself out of bed, and you would give anything for just an extra five minutes under the duvet.  At Goody, we’re all too familiar with the feeling, so to help us all overcome our morning panics we’ve devised a few top hair styling tips to have you looking glam and good to go in minutes!

From Boardroom to Bar

It’s a struggle to figure out how to style our hair for work each morning, let alone trying to work out a ‘do during the morning madness that will also be suitable for heading out with the girls straight after work too! Fortunately, our Simple Styles range offers the perfect solution:

For a great office-to-out look, why not use the Spin Pin (£4.99) to create the ideal boardroom-to-bar bun in a matter of minutes.  Simply brush the hair back into a ponytail and twist into the shape of the bun.  Insert the Spin Pin into the hair – twisting one in from the top and one in from the bottom – and hey presto, you’re ready to go.

Alternatively, the Modern Up-do Pin can help you create a classic chignon knot that’s perfect for going from that all important business meeting to a sophisticated dinner date in no time at all.  Simply gather the hair back into a ponytail, twist it as if you are styling a bun, and then insert the Modern Up-do Pin through the base of your hair.  Once in place, lift it up and then push it back down into the hair to secure.

Both the Spin Pin and the Modern Up-do Pin offer to do the job of 20 bobby pins, saving you valuable time in the morning, so you can concentrate on adding the finishing touches to your outfit or even sleeping in!  What’s more, both accessories require minimal time and effort to put in the hair, so you could even recreate these styles at work before you head out!

De-bedding the Bob

Many celebs, such as Katie Holmes, have been rocking the bob for a little while now and there’s a reason why – it’s the perfect hairstyle for all us girls who like to work hard and play hard! Offering a sophisticated do that has definite wow factor, the bob is really easy to maintain, making it ideal for busy girls who need a professional daytime look that can be glammed up in an instant.

For a sleek and chic look à la Katie, just run your Goody add+shine brush through your bed-head hair to smooth out any kinks and leave you with a smooth, glossy look. Or if you prefer a bit more curl, pop in the Goody Velcro Rollers before you go to bed and when you wake in the morning you’ll have lovely, sassy curls!

Taming the Mane

Girls with longer hair should take inspiration from Drew Barrymore and Eva Longoria. Their poker straight look is easy to achieve and can deliver real impact if you have long locks. Simply use Goody’s Ceramic Ionic Straighten Brush as you blow dry – its quick dry ceramic will help to help minimise drying time, whilst its ionic properties will reduce frizz at the same time! If you have time, finish by quickly running through with your straighteners and you’ll have a perfect, polished, poker straight do that’s good to go!

Glam on the Go

Looking glam after you’ve hit the snooze button three times too many is a tricky art to master. Luckily, Goody’s accessories will have you looking fab in a second and help to divert any unwanted attention from your less than perfect last-minute locks.

Simply pull your hair back swiftly into a high pony tail using one of Goody’s Ouchless Hair Elastics, and you’ll be good to go in super-quick time. Why not add a Goody Headband for an extra chic look that’s an easy remedy for smartening up hair in time for that early morning business meeting?

Alternatively adding a sparkly slide or clip on the way to work will create an on-trend style that will have all your colleagues green with envy.

We’re keen to hear about all of your ‘fast fixes’ so make sure you let us know your top tips for creating sensational styles in seconds!

We’re Sticking To Our Roots

September 17th, 2010

We women may have a reputation for chopping and changing minds, but our hair colour seems to be the exception to the rule, as this week’s poll has shown that a whopping 55% of us are happy with our natural hair colour and have never changed it!

We asked you to let us know how often you tampered with your tone and were astounded that so many of you have never dared to dye.  We thought a few more of you would have dabbled with the peroxide given that they say blondes have more fun!

Surprisingly only 10% of you switch shades every 1-3 months. We thought lots more of you would have been influenced by the seasonal trends of opting for a lighter hair colour in the spring/summer months and darker tones in autumn and winter.  A similar number of you said that you prefer to change your hair colour every 2-3 years, so it seems that you lovely ladies don’t tire easily when it comes to hair colour! Perhaps you prefer to spice it up with lots of accessories and different styles?

Whether you’re a committed colourist or a loyal naturalist, it is always important to care for your hair. After all nobody wants a limp, dull ‘do!  That’s why we love our StylingTherapy range. The colour+protect brush is perfect for helping to help maintain the colour of dyed hair, whilst the add+shine brush provides luscious, sleek locks for girls who prefer to stay au natural. But what are your thoughts? Are you devoted dyer or a colour-phobe?

The Hepburn Chignon is back!

September 16th, 2010

Audrey Hepburn’s was an updo icon and no more so than with the beautiful hair chignon style. It’s an iconic style that is synonymous with sophistication and elegance and it seems this oh so elegantly coiffed hairstyle is coming back for Autumn / Winter. We at Goody Towers absolutely love this glam and feminine look and it seems we’re not the only ones! All of the models in Prada’s latest TV campaign sport the hairstyle, and we loved Angelina’s play on the look showcasing her brand new fringe at the recent premiere of the new movie ‘Salt‘.

And fear not, would we tell you about this new trend without showing you how to achieve it? Of course not! And the good news is that our brand new Simple Style Modern Updo Pin is just the secret weapon you need to cheat your way to this ultra feminine style in a fraction of the time without an A-lister stylist on hand….

Step 1: Gather your hair into a ponytail and twist into a bun ensuring that any loose ends are tucked away.

Step 2: Insert a Simple Styles Modern Updo Pin up through the base of the bun.

Step 3: Lift pin upwards to create your chignon style and press pin downwards to secure your style .

Even better news is that this clever little tool only costs £4.99 from Asda, and includes instructions on how to achieve a few other styles that you can play with too. Our top tip: pop a Simple Styles Updo Pin into your handbag for the ultimate office to bar transformation.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s – yes please!!!

The Ultimate in Hair Care

September 15th, 2010

At Goody, we’re not afraid to admit that we love hair! However, it still came as a bit of a surprise this week to find someone who loves hair more than us, when American football player Troy Polamalu insured his trademark locks for $1 million!

The player’s stand-out hair is a familiar sight to football fans, who frequently witness his 3ft long locks sticking out of his helmet when he plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The star claims to have not had a hair cut since 2000, and we think it looks in great condition considering it hasn’t been cut for the last decade!

As you know, at Goody we’re big fans of personalising your hairstyle and encourage everyone to play with their hair to find ‘do that suits them. We’d love to hear what you think about Troy Polamalu insuring his hair and if you think there are any other celebs out there whose hair is worth the same treatment!

It’s All About Long Hair!

September 10th, 2010

This week we revealed Cheryl Cole’s new hairstyle and asked whether you preferred her new tumbling long locks or her former sophisticated short bob, and if this week’s poll is anything to go by, we’re guessing you prefer the long look!

We asked what your favourite way of wearing your own hair is – long or short – and an astounding 76% of you sided with Cheryl saying you preferred to wear it long.

We knew that long hair was popular but we had no idea that so many of you held it as your favoured hair style!  Long hair is perfect for playing with and to create different styles, you can wear it loose, in a ponytail, a bun or pretty much however you want, so it’s unsurprising it came out top!

But for those of you with short hair don’t fear- you can still get creative because there are loads of fun hair accessories, like our Luxe Deco Contour Clips, that will brighten up your hair and give it a bit of life and personality!

At Goody we encourage you all to experiment with your hairstyle, whether long, short or in between as there’s hundreds of styles out there to keep you looking stylish and stunning!

Cheryl Gets Her Hair Extensions Back!

September 8th, 2010

It was long, it was short and now it’s long again. That’s right – Cheryl Cole has had her hair extensions put back in!  At Goody Towers, we were surprised to see that she’s ‘gone long’ again – we thought her sophisticated, choppy, grown out bob really suited her.  Perhaps Cheryl just thought it was time for a new, fresh look given that many people, including Danielle Lineker, have recreated her shorter style.

Cheryl has been snapped both in LA and here in the UK sporting long locks tumbling down her back, a look we haven’t seen her with in a long time.  Given that she had to take to some time off from recording the X Factor whilst she recovered from Malaria, perhaps she just wanted a new look for when she returns to the show.

While she is no stranger to hair extensions, it has to be said this look is definitely different from her previous long hair style.  Before her hair was very much volume-packed but this look is much more demure and slightly less va va voom. And while we liked her shorter style, we love this one too.  Does Cheryl ever put a foot wrong in the style stakes?!

What do you think – should Cheryl ditch the hair extensions for good and keep her hair short?
