Celebrity hair styles! Get Fergie’s superstar style

Are you loving Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas’ recent transformation from funky blonde to sophisticated brunette as much as I am? Not content with countless hit singles and another world tour underway, she’s a spunky style icon who is determined to shock and surprise all her fans (me included) at every turn, with a new celebrity hair style and even more fabulous outfits whenever she can.

But I’m not jealous – because you don’t have to be a celebrity to carry off one of her favourite sleek hair styles that she’s showcasing on the stages of some of the world’s biggest venues. With the help of some styling tools from Goody’s Start Style Finish range, you’ll be sporting her celebrity hair style in no time!

Here’s how I get the look…

1. I towel dry my hair and divide into small sections using Sectioning Clips (RRP £1.99 for 6 at Morrisons). Then, using the Ceramic Ionic Straighten Brush (RRP £9.49 from Boots) from the Start range of products, I blast dry each section of hair until 90 per cent dry.
*STAR TIP – make sure to direct your hairdryer downwards from root to tip to encourage the hair to stay flat, and if you have a straightening nozzle on your hairdryer, use it!

2. To straighten my hair even further, I swap brushes to the 43mm Ceramic Ionic Porcupine Hot Round Brush (RRP £11.99 from Boots) from the Style range and finish blow drying. The bristles help control static and flyaways whilst the special ions will reduce frizz – and no-one wants frizz!

3. Once dry, I run small sections of my hair through the Ceramic Ionic Flat Iron Comb (RRP £6.99 from Boots) from the Finish range to ensure all strands of hair are locked in place. For extra shine, I always add my favourite serum.

And that’s it! You’ll be ready to Boom Boom Pow, Fergie style in no time… Just make sure you don’t get carried away trying to recreate her metallic catsuits with tin foil…

Beach-babe wavy hair rules!

It’s official. Beach-babe wavy hair rules! In our poll to find out your favourite summer style, the relaxed wavy hair ‘do came out with a landslide victory.

The fact that you can use the salt in seawater to coax out wavy hair and the old lemon-juice to encourage highlights seemed to evoke many happy memories for you all.

WAG hair styles

As World Cup Fever hits us with full force, we’ll inevitably be seeing a lot of the WAG’s antics over the next few weeks, despite them being banned from going to South Africa!

My favourite WAG hair style has to be Coleen Rooney. She recently attended Manchester United defender John O’Shea’s wedding minus Wayne looking absolutely stunning. The maxi dress and clutch bag look absolutely fantastic with her volumised hair style, tousled locks and statement earrings. She’s really showcased a variety of hair styles over the past few years and this will definitely be a look I’ll be trying this World Cup!

Hair styling: how often do you experiment?

It’s no secret that many women take inspiration from celebrities when it comes to their appearance, but what is interesting is that a recent piece of research that we carried out at Goody shows how regularly you like to experiment with hair styling, and playing with your hair.

Whilst half of all women look to celebrities for inspiration on their hair cut, and a third always take celebrity pictures into the hairdressers with them, the average British female will change her hair styling routine at least once a year – with 40 per cent of you opting to change your hairstyle at least every six months.

Most women have tried being both blonde and brunette, but surprisingly, brunette is the favourite choice of colour for 47 per cent of girls, whereas 33 per cent think blonde is best, and 12 per cent would rather be a redhead.

71 per cent of ladies polled say they prefer to have long hair, and 63 per cent opt for a straight style, although half of you play with hair styling at home at least once a month.

Did you know that the average woman will also spend £508.92 on hair styling over the course of one year which equates to a whopping £32,061 over their adult lifetime of 63 years!

What can we say, except that we women can’t get enough of playing with our hair! A change is as good as a rest and it is no different when it comes to our hair. Hair styling can boost our confidence, supply lashings of the feel-good factor and leave us feeling fab, so we say play away!

Celebrity hair styles at Cannes

You have crowned Kate Beckinsale as the Queen of Cannes in our recent poll on celebrity hair styles at Europe’s chicest film festival. With an array of dazzling gowns and luscious locks on show, Kate was channeling old school Hollywood glamour all the way and we think she is a deserving winner.
